Student Government may run out of funds for the 2nd year in a row. Here's how the senate is hoping to change

Student Government is again in a situation where it could run out of funds for student organizations. But a proposal in the student senate could look at changing the guidelines for how funds are allowcated. Student Body President Emmy Thompson and Treasurer Hannah Augsbach-Lamma said they also want to look at trying to increase a larger campus activity fee, creating a larger pool of money for funding.

The University of South Carolina’s Athletic Director, Ray Tanner, states the recommendations to update the surrounding 889 acres around Williams-Brice Stadium on Feb. 7, 2023. The exact plan of what will be built has yet to be fully confirmed, but there is a possibility that the land will be turned into new student housing properties, apartments or restaurants.
