USC students celebrated the Gamecocks' third women's basketball national championship win by jumping into the fountain outside of Thomas Cooper Library.
Residents of 650 Lincoln and Park Place told The Daily Gamecock they often underutilize their buildings luxury amenities. Several students said they wish the university had more alternatives for on-campus housing options for upperclassmen.
The board of trustees began approving some of the projects proposed in USC's updated master plan, which was presented to the board in January 2024. Some of these plans include renovations to Thomas Cooper Library, the replacement of McBryde, and a dining and housing fee increase.

Proposals for a new student union were presented to the board of trustees on Jan. 20. Administration said Russell House needs updates to accommodate USC's growing student population.
Student body vice president candidate Courtney Tkacs looks to address student concerns with infrastructure, safety and Wi-Fi as well as improve communication with students about Student Government initiatives. She said she wants to ensure that all students feel represented by their Student Government.
Student Government election season will look a little different in 2024. Most executive candidates are running uncontested, and this is the first year there will be spending limits on campaigns.
USC administration presented plans for a new student union as well as several other major campus renovations to the board of trustees both Friday and Saturday. The timeline for some of the projects are unclear, but if plans for Russell House are approved, construction would begin by summer 2025. The project is expected to cost $240 million.
