Brief: USC student charged after spitting in roommates food

In the past few days, a video from February of a USC student pouring Windex and spitting in roommates' food has surfaced WLTX reports.

Earlier this winter, a hidden camera recorded 22-year-old Hayley King removing several containers from the refrigerator and either spraying the window cleaner or spitting into the food. The camera was set up by her roommates when King refused to leave their shared off-campus apartment after many arguments, according to investigators.

King was arrested on February 9 after her roommates showed the video to authorities, one of whom had already eaten out of the contaminated food, she told police.

According to the report, King confessed to the incident in an interview with police. The 22-year-old is charged with unlawful, malicious tampering of a human drug product or food and may face up to 20 years in prison if convicted.

A day after her arrest, King was released on a $5,000 personal recognizance.
