The Daily Gamecock

Kratch's Gameballs for East Carolina

CHARLOTTE –

Stephen Garcia: Maybe Steve Spurrier is too stubborn to give Garcia one, but I'm not. Garcia changed the game and he proved once and for all he is USC's starting quarterback with three total touchdowns (two rushing, one passing) and a hellacious run to spark the Gamecocks off the bench.

John Butler and Ace Sanders: In Butler's first game as special teams coordinator, Ace Sanders, who also had a touchdown catch, broke a 68-yard punt return for a touchdown. It was USC's first special teams score since 2003. It also should be Sports Illustrated's "Sign of the Apocalypse" in this week's issue. Chavez Donnings, step aside.

Marcus Lattimore: How many guys can make 112 yards and three touchdowns seem like a ho-hum effort?

Antonio Allen: Allen had a brilliant night, recording 16 tackles to go along with his 25 yard fumble recovery for a touchdown. The spur linebacker job should be his to keep. Expect DeVonte Holloman to be elsewhere against Georgia as he returns from his one-game suspension for a summer DUI arrest.

C.C. Whitlock: Filling in for the injured Akeem Auguste at cornerback, Whitlock played very well with four tackles and several good coverages.
