Playlist of the week: Road tripping

It's that time of year again when students can't wait to get away from home and parents can't quite seem to let them go. For some, moving in might just be a 20-minute drive down the road, but for others it's a day's drive or flight.

We know how these things usually go. Your dad's driving and won't listen to anything but classic rock, so you plug in your headphones and sit in solitude until you reach your destination.

For just a little over an hour, we invite you to put down the headphones and seize the aux for a playlist full of crowd-pleasers. It's grungy enough to satisfy the rockers in the car yet soft enough for pop fans, all the while offering just a hint of country. Most importantly, everybody has heard these songs on the radio before. Share in laughter as you stumble over the lyrics you kind of know, but not really. This may be your last family trip for a while, so enjoy it.

On top of being grade A road trip anthems, these songs also have lyrics that, when listened to closely, might just bring a tear to your parents' eyes as they prepare to send you off.
