A 19-year-old male was found shot near the corner of Harden and Devine streets in Five Points early Sunday morning, according to Jennifer Timmons, the public information officer for the Columbia Police Department.
He was transported to a nearby hospital and underwent emergency surgery. He is expected to survive, The State reported.
The victim's family said "he is not currently enrolled as a student at a college or university," Timmons said in an email interview.
The Columbia Police Department is reviewing security videos in hopes of finding out how the victim was injured, WLTX News19 reported.
“We continue to investigate the circumstances of the incident, specifically how the male was injured,” Timmons said.
The Columbia Police Department is encouraging anyone who has any information to call Crimestoppers at 1-888-CRIME-SC, Timmons said.
