USC's board of trustees voted on Friday, Feb. 18 to create a statue on campus honoring the three Black students who desegregated the university in 1963.
Various organizations hosted "The People's Rally for Abortion Justice" on Feb. 17, rallying against Senate Bills S.988 and S.907, which dealt with abortion. Speakers included South Carolina Senators Mia McLeod and Margie Bright Matthews.
The student senate argued for hours over whether to recommend USC end its mask mandate. Eventually, the bill passed by a thin margin.
During the student government executive office debate, candidates said there needs to reforms to campus parking and the university's mental health resources.
The Center for Civil Rights History and Research, founded in November of 2015, has received $1.5 million to enhance education and establish more exhibits across the state.
