Police: Victim was tattoo shop employee
An employee at a Greene Street tattoo parlor in Five Points died Tuesday afternoon as a result of a self-inflicted gunshot wound, police say.
Jennifer Timmons, a spokeswoman for the Columbia police department, said the incident did not appear to be suspicious, and that investigators don’t suspect foul play. An incident report wasn’t available by press time.
Authorities haven’t identified the man, and multiple calls to Richland County Coroner Gary Watts went unreturned Tuesday.
Other circumstances surrounding the employee’s death were not immediately available, and by the early evening, 5 Points Custom Tattoo, which lists a midnight closing time on its Facebook page, sat closed. But with investigators gone and police tape taken down, its neighbors appeared to return to business as usual.
