Planned riverfront development seeks community connection

The City of Columbia works to complete its 27-mile greenway riverfront connection by developing the last 100 acres along the Congaree River. Still in the beginning phase of the project, the city invites input from the community to ensure a variety of voices are heard.

Purple martin conservation spurs backyard action

Riverbanks Zoo and Garden will host its first Purple Martin Conservation Workshop on Jan. 31 to help connect the community to more backyard wildlife. Once a natural cavity-nesting species, the purple martin now almost entirely depends on humans for housing east of the Rocky Mountains.
