One-dollar water to be available in student section

Starting on Saturday's home opener against East Carolina, South Carolina students will have a cheaper alternative to get water for a significant portion of the game.

In collaboration with student body president Michael Parks, athletics director Ray Tanner has approved an initiative to reduce prices for bottled water to one dollar beginning midway through the third quarter. The reduced price will only be available in the concession stands beneath the student sections. Water currently costs $3.25, which will be the price for the first two and a half quarters.

"Our students' access to affordable water bottles is a priority of Student Government's," said Student Body President Michael Parks. "We want to ensure that every student that partakes in the home game experience in Williams-Brice can buy a bottle of water for a fair price. Personally, I see this as a matter of public safety for our students, especially considering how hot the first several games at home can be. I'm very grateful to our athletic director, Coach Tanner, for working so diligently on this matter on behalf of our students."
