Student senate approves new position nominations, kicks off fall semester

USC's student senate approved new position nominations, allocated funds internally and amended the student government codes at their first meeting of the semester on Aug. 19.

Tyler Morgan, Hannah Gary and Tanisha Poojary resigned as student senators. Evan Hammond resigned from the position of clerk, and Gabby Coloruso resigned from the position of director of internal affairs. 

Corrine Dunn resigned as associate justice, while Christian Price was nominated as the new associate justice.

The senate passed legislation to allocate funds for student government internally and amended chapter 2 of the student government codes concerning delegation members and chairperson reform.

Next week, student senate will vote on two pieces of legislation regarding amending chapter 2 of the codes to prohibit self-initiated articles of impeachment, and chapter 4 of the codes to establish limits on the amount of official campaign staff.

Student senate will meet again on Aug. 26 in the Russell House Theater.
