As a part of the Earth Day celebration in Columbia, PalmettoPride has announced their Great American Cleanup of South Carolina — Carolina Cleanup initiative. During this initiative, efforts will be focused from April 18 through April 25 to promote cleaning up litter in South Carolina.

For the past six years Sexual Trauma Services of the Midlands (STSM) has hosted Walk A Mile In Their Shoes to raise awareness about sexual violence and to highlight local, non-profit organizations that are available to help survivors of sexual assault and abuse. The Sexual Trauma Services of the Midlands is a non-profit organization that began in 1983.
Katie Shelgren, a fourth-year public relations student, and her fiancé Will Boggs, a USC alum, have founded Raising a Voice, an organization dedicated to educating the public about human trafficking and helping to bring it to an end.
The Relay for Life team has been spending the week painting the town in shades of purple. Purple is the color that represents Cancer Survivors and, secondarily, is used to promote the Relay for Life events.
