3 arrested in Five Points attack

All suspects turned selves in to police within days

Two men were stabbed outside of Group Therapy, a Five Points bar, early Sunday morning. Three men have been arrested in connection with the incident.

Stewart Randall Ard, 38, was charged with two counts of second degree assault and battery by mob and two counts of first degree assault after turning himself over to Columbia police Monday. Ard stabbed the men after he and the other suspect were asked to leave the bar “because of behavior they displayed inside,” a Columbia Police Department release said.

Benjamin Geno, 30, is accused of punching the men right before they were stabbed. He turned himself in on Tuesday afternoon along with Jason Scaggs, 34, who waited in the car during the incident, Columbia Police Department spokeswoman Jennifer Timmons said. Both have been charged with two counts of second degree assault and battery by mob. While a fourth suspect was questioned in the case, police do not expect to arrest him.

One of the victims is a bouncer at Group Therapy and was stabbed near his rib cage, which resulted in a collapsed lung. The other victim was stabbed in the chest and the left forearm and was punched in the right eye. As Ard and the other suspect ran away, Ard tried to stab two other men who ran after him, police said.
