Crime Blotter for July 22 - July 29

— An officer was on patrol near Olympia Avenue July 24 when he saw a man riding a bike in the middle of the road, obstructing traffic. When he stopped the man, he noticed the man appeared “grossly intoxicated,” had slurred speech and was unsteady on his feet. The man told the officer he had two beers that night. The officer determined the man could not provide adequate care for himself and arrested him for disorderly conduct.

— An officer arrived at the scene of a DUI arrest in order to assist the responding officer around 4:00 a.m. July 25. The officer brought the driver back to his apartment at Riverside Apartments and returned to the scene to wait for the man’s car to be towed. The man then returned to the scene with a woman, asking if she could drive the car to his apartment. The woman did not have a driver’s license on her, so the officer said no. While the car was being towed, the man ran to the car and jumped into the passenger seat. He refused to exit the car multiple times before being arrested for disorderly conduct.

— An officer was patrolling near Harden Street when he saw a man stumbling up the road around 2:30 a.m. July 26. When the officer drove his car towards the man, the man hid behind a black SUV. The officer approached him and immediately smelled a strong odor of alcohol while noticing the man had slurred speech, had trouble walking and was swaying while he was standing. After the officer checked the man’s information, the man became belligerent, yelling that he was 21 and thus allowed to drink and walk to his friend’s house, although he was unable to remember his friend’s address. The man then became more angry and tried to grab his license back from the officer. The officer told him to sit on the ground, but he instead got close to the officer, so the officer struck him in the chest. The man was arrested for disorderly conduct after being cleared by paramedics.
