All students currently in Belgium have been confirmed safe following Tuesday's terrorist attacks, according to the University of South Carolina Study Abroad Program.

“Our thoughts are with all those affected by the tragic bombing attacks that occurred in Brussels this morning. The Study Abroad Office has confirmed that all USC students studying in Belgium are safe and accounted for," read a statement from Study Abroad Program Director Magdalena Grudzinski-Hall.

A total of four USC students were in Belgium as part of the Study Abroad Program at the time of the attack.

Grudzinski-Hall went on to reaffirm the Study Abroad Program's vigilance when it comes to the safety of students studying abroad.

"We continue to closely monitor the security situation in Europe, as the safety of our students remains our highest priority," she said. "Europe is the most popular region of study outside of the U.S. for USC students, with students studying there during every term. We remain in close contact with our partner institutions in Europe and plan to continue with all scheduled programs at this time.”

At least 31 people were killed Tuesday and many more wounded when a series of bombs were detonated at a Brussels airport and subway station, according to The Associated Press. Two bombs, one of which appears to have been exploded by a suicide bomber, went off at the airport, and the third bomb exploded at a subway station near the European Commission headquarters approximately 40 minutes later.

Multiple Americans were wounded in the attack, according to a report from the Los Angeles Times. They include a group of three Mormon missionaries from Utah and a military service member and his family.
