A man from Greer won the lottery shortly after performing a random act of kindness outside of the QuikTrip on Woodruff Road.
The man was leaving the convenience store after he purchased a Powerball ticket and a bottle of water and handed his leftover bills to a woman just outside. He then defeated unlikely odds by winning the $1 million Powerball lottery for May 28.
The winner believes it was his generous act that ultimately led to his stroke of monetary luck. He reportedly did not even ask for a Powerball ticket, but a Mega Millions ticket. The store clerk instead sold him a Powerball ticket.
"The blessing came back to me," the man said in an interview with The State.
