Columbia shooting leaves 1 injured

Columbia police and investigators arrived on Wildwood Avenue on Friday evening in response to a shooting, in which one person was shot. The police department tweeted that the victim's injuries do not appear fatal and that investigators are working to pinpoint a suspect.

Tree falls on house, injures teen

Winds from a storm Friday caused a tree to fall into a house in Irmo, knocking a 17-year-old boy down from the roof and severely injuring him. The boy is the son of Kim Desenberg, who said that they and her husband had come to Irmo to help out her mother-in-law. Her husband and son were working when the tree fell. The boy has been hospitalized.

Teen charged with attempted murder in pool shooting

A 17-year-old who fired a gun at a pool party on June 3 turned himself in Friday and has been charged with six counts of attempted murder. According to investigators, Taquarie Weathers was in an altercation at the party. He pulled out a gun and fired it several times, injuring a 16-year-old boy in the process. The victim was sent to Palmetto Health Richland, and Weathers was transported to Glenn Detention Center, WIS reports.
