Roth called up by Rangers

Legendary Gamecocks pitcher Michael Roth was called up to the pros Sunday in the Texas Rangers organization, The State reports. Roth previously threw 22 MLB games with the Los Angeles Angels, and went 7-3 in Triple-A this season. He will join fellow former Gamecock great Sam Dyson in the Rangers bullpen.

Homemade explosive injures man in Central Park

A man was injured by a small explosion in New York City's Central Park on Sunday, WIS reports. The man suffered a partial amputation but is in stable condition. Officers say the device was not terrorism related, and NYC Mayor Bill de Blasio indicated on social media it may have been related to fireworks. The explosion occurred near a memorial service for Elie Wiesel, adding to the panic.

Rescuers searching for person lost on Wateree River

Local officials are searching for a person last seen on a sandbar in the Wateree River. The Columbia Fire Department along with resources from the Richland County Sheriff's Department began their search late Sunday afternoon. Officers indicated the person may have been swept away by a current.
