South Carolina named most patriotic state

One company has named South Carolina the most patriotic state in the union, WACH reports. Based on aspects such as the size of the veteran population and Google searches to purchase American flags, the real estate company Movoto awarded the honor to the Palmetto State. The other Carolina came in third in the same poll, and California was named the least patriotic state.

Man arrested for hitting deputy

A Richland County man was arrested for striking a deputy, The State reports. The deputy required care for minor injuries after being struck during a traffic stop. The man, identified as 47-year-old Lawrence Blanding, got into an exchange with the deputy when he tried to give Blanding's girlfriend a traffic ticket. Blanding faces assault charges.

Body of missing man discovered in Wateree River

The body of a man who went missing in the Wateree River has been recovered, WIS reports. An autopsy will be performed on Tuesday to determine a cause of death for the 51-year-old man who was camping with family. Officials from the Sumter County Sheriff's Department, Columbia Fire Department, Richland County Sheriff's Department, Richland County EMS and the Department of Natural Resources were involved in the search.
