Baddourah, wife to be psychologically evaluated

Columbia city councilman and McCutchen House Director Moe Baddourah, after appearing before a Family Court judge for charges of second-degree criminal domestic violence, will have to report to a psychologist for an evaluation. Baddourah's wife, Carrie Rhett, must do the same. According to The State, the evaluation results are to assist a judge in determining visitation and custody plans for their 6- and 4-year-old children. Baddourah will meet with a psychologist next week, and Rhett has been allotted 60 days to do so as well.

Columbia one day shy of heat record

Seven days of triple-digit heat has Columbia on the verge of reaching a record, The State reports. If Sunday's temperatures surpass the 100 degree mark, then the city will match a record for consecutive days of heat set in 1986. The forecasted high is 99 degrees.

Sumter teen arrested in connection with burglaries

A Sumter 15-year-old was arrested Saturday over a string of business burglaries, WLTX reports. The teen confessed to officials after being questioned for hours, and he named others he worked with. So far he has been charged with three counts of burglary and theft of a motor vehicle. More charges might be added.
