Man arrested in Gadsden shooting

One suspect has been charged with murder after a shooting that left one dead in Gadsden, WIS reports. The suspect, 28-year-old Ira Ellison, was arrested several hours after the Saturday afternoon incident on South Cedar Creek Road. The victim was identified as 20-year-old Charles Hopkins by the Richland County Coroner.


SC Air National Guard headed to South Korea

Units from the 169th Fighter Wing of the South Carolina Air National Guard has been deployed to South Korea, WLTX reports. Approximately 300 airmen will be stationed at Osan Air Base for several months. They departed July 13.


Small earthquake hits Lowcountry

A small earthquake shook the greater Charleston area Sunday morning, The Post and Courier reports. The quake registered at a 1.1 magnitude and could be felt in and around Summerville. The United States Geological Survey says the coastal areas of South Carolina and Georgia experience about one small quake a year.
