McMaster to address Republican National Convention

South Carolina’s own lieutenant governor will speak at the Republican National Convention on Tuesday, The State reports. McMaster will deliver a nominating address for Donald Trump to the crowd in Cleveland at 5:30 p.m. He was the first statewide elected official in the whole country to endorse the presumptive nominee.

Two charged in Darlington murders

Two people were arrested in connection with a Darlington double homicide, WIS reports. The pair, currently held at the Darlington County Detention Center, were charged with murder. The incident left a 9-year-old girl and her grandmother dead, and the investigation is ongoing.

Judge rules Roof jury should come from Charleston area

A federal judge ruled the jury in Dylann Roof’s trial can be picked from Charleston, The Post and Courier reports. Prosecutors had wanted to pull the jury from a statewide pool, but the judge ruled in favor of the defense. He faces the death penalty over 33 federal counts and 13 state counts. His trial is set to take place Nov. 7.
