Man drowns near Cayce Riverwalk

The body of a man who drowned in the Congaree River was recovered, The State reports. A second man was transported to a local hospital and has been treated and released. The pair were on a fishing boat on the Congaree when the boat overturned near Cayce Riverwalk. Neither were wearing life jackets.

Hearing scheduled for controversial North Carolina HB2

North Carolina's so-called "bathroom bill" will have its day in court on Monday, WIS reports. HB2 calls for transgender persons to use the bathroom of the sex they were born rather than the gender they identify as. The legislation sparked a similar bill in the South Carolina legislature, but it failed to advance after a great deal of public protest. The suit involves various civil rights organizations as well as individuals from throughout the state.

Boil water advisories repealed throughout Columbia

A series of boil water advisories in Columbia were repealed, WLTX reports. The advisories affected neighborhoods throughout the area in Richland and Lexington Counties. The city flushed the distribution system, and they ask anyone with questions to call the city's Water Works Customer Call Center.
