No charges in Spring Valley case

Neither the school resource officer nor the involved students will face criminal charges after a controversial incident at Spring Valley High School last school year, The State reports. Prosecutors made the decision based on a lack of evidence on either side in reports by the FBI and SLED. The Columbia high school found itself at the center of a national debate on policing after a white officer physcially removed an African-American student from her desk and the whole thing was recorded.
