Shots fired at home near local school

Multiple shots were fired at a home on Greenwyche Ave. early Monday, The State reports. The home, located near Columbia High School, was shot around 1 a.m. One person was inside, but no one was injured. The Richland County Sheriff's Department is still investigating the incident.

Sumter toddler found driving overnight

A 2-year-old was found driving a battery-operated car, WIS reports. The boy was spotted driving down a Sumter road by a woman, who then contacted police just before 2 a.m. It took officials three hours to follow the car's small tracks back to his home in order to notify the parents. The child was unharmed and released into his family's care, but the Department of Social Services is still investigating.

Publix recalls cakes sold in SC stores

Publix supermarkets are recalling certain cakes sold in their bakery departments, WLTX reports. The products, apple coffee cakes with the UPC code 002-19562-00000, may contain metal shavings. The cakes were sold in stores in South Carolina as well as Georgia, Alabama, Tennessee and North Carolina.
