UPDATED: Power outages affect off-campus housing

Off-campus student housing has been affected by power outages caused by Hurricane Matthew.

Students report power was out during the night Friday and in the early hours of Saturday morning at The Retreat, Stadium Suites, The Lofts and The Club at Carolina Stadium. Power has reportedly been restored at all of these locations.

There were also reports of power issues at students' homes on Greene Street near Five Points, along Blossom Street and near the intersections of Devine and Rosewood and Leesburg and Garners Ferry.

Gov. Nikki Haley reported 437,000 power outages across the Palmetto State as a result of Hurricane Matthew at a press conference Saturday morning. The outages are primarily in Beaufort, Charleston and Richland counties.

SCE&G reports they alone have 268,000 customers without power as of noon Saturday, and they ask anyone who sees downed power lines to call 1-888-333-4465.

UPDATE: Gov. Nikki Haley said reported power outages are up to 833,627 across the state at a 6 p.m. press conference. The outages are mainly concentrated along the coast.
