94-year-old Bethune man missing

Police are searching for a missing elderly man from Bethune, WIS reports. Blease Cranford, who is 94 and might have dementia according to authorities, was last seen early Friday at his home and might be traveling to Columbia. Officials ask anyone with information to call Kershaw County Dispatch at 803-425-7671.

Crews preparing for SC power outages

South Carolina power companies are preparing for possible outages as a result of Hurricane Matthew, WLTX reports. SCE&G is anticipating more than 100,000 outages, and it says getting to areas with outages could be complicated by flooding. The company has also preemptively brought in power crews from other states to help with the recovery effort.

Testimony continues in Dutch Fork student's murder case

New information about the knife used to kill a Dutch Fork High School student was revealed in court Friday, The State reports. A Lexington County investigator testified that the knife was found buried in the yard of a neighbor of Kierin Dennis, currently on trial for the murder. The investigator said the discovery was made a week after the murder in 2014. Friday was the fifth day of Dennis' trial.
