Historic Myrtle Beach pier destroyed by Matthew

Hurricane Matthew's storm surge destroyed one of Myrtle Beach's most iconic landmarks, The State reports. The Springmaid Pier, the longest on the Grand Strand, was completely washed out save for about 100 feet. About 50 feet of the Surfside Beach Pier was also ripped away, and two other Myrtle Beach piers saw some damage.

Two killed in Lexington County accident

Two people were killed late Saturday in an accident in Lexington County, WIS reports. The pair who were killed were reportedly riding a motorcycle that collided with a vehicle near the intersection of St. Andrew's Road and Fernandina Road. Highway Patrol is still investigating the incident.

Suspect detained in Lexington County shooting

Lexington County Sheriff's deputies are investigating a late night shooting, WLTX reports. The incident happened off Chason Road, and the victim reportedly went to a convenience store on Platt Springs Road. A female suspect was taken into custody. The victim's injuries weren't life threatening.
