University police investigating KKK fliers on Clemson campus

Clemson University police have opened an investigation into fliers for the Ku Klux Klan found on campus. The fliers were found Monday, and no arrests have been made yet. Officials say they do have video that might show someone throwing the fliers out of a moving car. This incident also comes just days after campus police arrested individuals for shouting racial slurs on the campus.

Mistrial declared in Dutch Fork murder trial

A deadlocked jury led a judge to declare a mistrial in the case of a Dutch Fork High School student killed in a stabbing in 2014, WIS reports. The deadlock reportedly stemmed from the defendant's argument that he acted in self-defense. One official indicated that a new trial date might be set.

Orangeburg schools closed till Monday

The effects of Hurricane Matthew will keep Orangeburg County schools closed until Monday, WLTX reports. Some staff members will return to work on Friday, but students will miss a full week and a half of classes in total. The district was closed before the storm by Gov. Nikki Haley and has remained closed due to power outages and other storm-related issues.
