Fifth SC hurricane fatality announced

A fifth South Carolinian was found dead as a result of Hurricane Matthew on Thursday, The State. The man, 40-year-old James Tyler, was discovered in the living room of his flooded home in Nichols. Nichols was hit particularly hard by the flooding because of cresting from both the Little Pee Dee and Lumber rivers. More than 40 people have died as a result of the storm in the United States.

I-77 crash victims identified as college students

The three people killed in a car crash on I-77 were identified as students of Claflin University, WIS reports. Three of them were pronounced dead at the scene, and a fourth died at a hospital. A prayer service was held on campus Friday.

More than 200 weapons stolen from gun store during Hurricane Matthew

More than 200 guns were stolen from a Horry County store during Hurricane Matthew, WLTX reports. The owner said the thieves took various guns from display cases while the store was without power. A $20,000 reward is available for information in the case.
