Tourists find million-year-old shark tooth on SC coast

A Virginia couple discovered a rare shark tooth uncovered by Hurricane Matthew on North Myrtle Beach, The State reports. The tooth, which is valued at more than $100, is thought to be from a now-extinct Megalodon shark. Experts say the shark this tooth came from was probably more than 40 feet long and lived more than one million years ago.

Documentary about Midlands school premiering on BBC

A Midlands high school is the focus of a new BBC documentary series, WIS reports. The six-part series, entitled "American High School," was filmed at Orangeburg Consolidated School District 5's Orangeburg-Wilkinson High School. The first installment airs Tuesday at 10 a.m. on BBC Three.

Easley teacher accused of assaulting student

A Pickens County elementary school teacher was arrested over an incident with a student, WLTX reports. Jordan Katherine McAbee, a 24-year-old teacher at Easley's West End Elementary School, was charged with third degree assault and battery, and she is no longer employed by the school district. She allegedly tied a student's hand to one of her shoes.
