Winnsboro police chief arrested in prostitution bust

Winnsboro police chief Freddy Lorick Sr. was identified as one of the men arrested in a prostitution bust Friday, The State reports. Lorick was charged with solicitation of a prostitute after he was caught in an undercover operation by Columbia police. The bust went down Friday at a hotel near Greystone Blvd., and Lorick was hospitalized after he told arresting officers he needed medical attention.

Three killed in apparent murder-suicide

Three people, including a 10-month-old, were found dead in an apparent murder-suicide, WIS reports. The victims were found dead at a home in Horry County early Saturday. Officials say the deceased included one man, one woman and the 10-month-old niece of the woman. A 2-year-old was also hospitalized.

SC House Republicans, Democrats unify behind early voting push

A bipartisan group of South Carolina legislators are looking to revive early voting legislation, The Post and Courier reports. Eight Republicans and seven Democrats in the Statehouse threw their support behind the bill to create a 15 day early voting period. The idea has the backing of state party leaders, and Gov. Nikki Haley has shown support for similar ideas in the past. A similar bill died in March.
