Rising sea levels increasing coastal flooding

A new report says increased coastal flooding in South Carolina is connected to rising sea levels, The State reports. The report also claims that those rising sea levels are caused by human activity. It specifically looks at "nuisance flooding." This type of flooding doesn't include things like storm surge from hurricanes, but rather increasingly common minor flooding during tides and rain storms that disrupts daily life.

SC native pitches in World Series

A South Carolina native pitched in the first World Series game at Wrigley Field in decades, WIS reports. Carl Edwards, Jr., a native of Prosperity, threw 1 and 2/3 innings in relief for the Chicago Cubs and gave up one run to the Cleveland Indians. The Cubs lost Game 3, falling behind in the series 2-1. Edwards' family, who still live in South Carolina, were in attendance.

One killed in mobile home fire

One person was killed when a fire broke out in a mobile home in Sumter, WLTX reports. The blaze was called in late Friday, and the home was completely engulfed when fire crews arrived. Officials are still investigating the incident.
