Lattimore coaches state championship on anniversary of injury

Gamecock great Marcus Lattimore is a champion once more, The State reports. Lattimore, whose record-breaking career at USC was cut short by a knee injury, is now head coach at Heathwood Hall, and his 5-3 won a state championship this week. The win came four years to the day after the hit that ended his time in the garnet and black.

Victim's son charged in suspicious death

A Columbia man is accused of strangling his elderly mother, WIS reports. The woman's body was discovered Friday at 838 Cindy Drive during a welfare check, and her death was ruled suspicious. Officials believe the son tried to make the scene look like a burglary. He faces murder charges.

House fire victim identified

The man killed in a mobile home fire in Sumter has been identified, WLTX reports. Jasper Clim, 80, was killed by a combination of burns and carbon monoxide poisoning. The fire is still under investigation, and Clim is the only reported victim.
