The South Carolina community will come together in the coming weeks to honor the legacy of Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. with myriad events leading up to Martin Luther King Day on Jan. 18. The Leadership and Service Center will host its annual Martin Luther King Jr. week from Jan. 16-23, and the university will also host other commemorative events.
State Rep. Mia McLeod announced Monday that she is calling on Gov. Nikki Haley to increase security at women’s health centers throughout South Carolina. Specifically, McLeod wants Haley to work with the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division (SLED) and local law enforcement agencies to ramp up monitoring at these facilities.
The USC and Clemson marching bands will put aside their differences at this Saturday's edition of the storied rivalry to pay tribute to the victims of this summer's Mother Emanuel AME Church shooting in Charleston, The State reports.
