If you want to live in Columbia, there are three things you really have to learn to love: sweltering heat — seriously, temperatures that can climb into the high 80s in the fall — the Carolina Gamecocks — as well as whichever team happens to be facing Clemson — and festivals. The Greater Columbia Area has always been known for hosting some of the best festivals, fairs and live events in the state, often pulling out all the stops to send both locals and visitors alike home with full stomachs, unique souvenirs and lasting memories. This fall’s lineup is shaping up to be another excellent season, with an array of local events that are sure to liven up the city for many weekends to come.

They’re dirty, they’re mean and they’re mighty unclean, but do these hardcore rockers belong on iTunes? Apparently not. In 2008, growling frontman Brian Johnson was quoted as calling the mega music dealer a “monster” and the band has shown little sign of changing ground. Preferring to present their masterpiece albums in their entirety instead of in the bits and pieces most fans would personally select, AC/DC has staunchly denied any requests to sell their tracks online, often saying that Apple was simply “loving for the money.”

Fall is finally upon us, and with it comes the start of a new school year, the crisp air as the leaves begin changing their colors and the trek to Williams-Brice Stadium each Saturday as our Gamecocks take the field. But fall also brings something else new to the table each year: a fresh crop of television shows. Each year, big name networks NBC, CBS, MTV and the like introduce new series in the hopes of bringing in ratings and roping in thousands of viewers with "original" concepts. Some of the latest shows to be released play on a few series that have already been a big hit with viewers, so no matter what day of the week, we can all tune in to see what the networks have to offer.
