Gov. Nikki Haley threatens to use executive order to fire recreation board members

Gov. Nikki Haley is pushing to remove all seven members of the Richland County Recreation board following lawmakers saying they neglected their duties, The State reports. Allegations against board members include sexual harassment, gross mismanagement, unethical pay raises and unfair favoritism. The board members can request a self-defense hearing and will not face firing immediately.

Local college to drastically reduce tuition

Columbia College announced on Thursday plans to reduce tuition price by nearly $10,000 for full-time undergraduate students. This will leave the price of tuition at $19,500 for the 2017 to 2018 academic years. According to the college, the change in tuition was intentional in an effort to make its private education more affordable. 

Man exposes himself at a local Starbucks

A Columbia man is being charged with an indecent exposure to a woman that occurred in the Starbucks on Main Street, WIS reports. According to police, the woman's friend took a picture at the scene. The suspect, 42-year-old John Chandler III, was found hiding in a nearby parking garage.
