New hotel project announced for downtown Columbia

According to developers, Columbia will be welcoming a 41-room boutique-style hotel project, The State reports. Three historic properties including the former Powell Furniture Co., the former Western Auto building and the Rose Talbert building will be renovated by a local couple. Columbia based Mashburn Construction Co. will build the $10 million dollar project. 

Local church holds healing service after divisive election

A local Columbia church held a "service of healing" aimed at bring people back together after the recent presidential election, The State reports. Lutheran and other religious leaders as well as law enforcement attended the service at Reformation Lutheran Church. 

Super moon shone bright over Columbia

According to NASA the super moon Monday is the closest the moon has come to earth this century and the "biggest and brightest" until Nov. 25, 2034, WIS reports. Scientifically referred to as a Perigee moon, it rose at 5:59 and became easier to see the higher it rose.
