Started in early 2018, March For Our Lives is an activist organization led by students and survivors of the Parkland, Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School shooting who advocate for gun reform in America. Last year, the march was one for the history books, but the same cannot be said for 2019.

The term “rape culture” has become a buzzword in our society. At times, it's used flippantly so that its definition might be misconstrued or its significance disregarded. Even using the phrase can incite negative connotations, dubiousness or at least an eye roll.

Prison reform is a hot-button issue. However, it doesn’t have as much media coverage as it's had in the past, and our generation seems very uneducated on the topic. Prison reform is the goal of improving conditions inside of prisons, improving the penal system and implementing alternatives to incarceration.

On our first date, my boyfriend and I had a political misunderstanding that wouldn't be resolved for weeks. I came away thinking he was a moderate who leaned right, while he thought that I was an establishment Democrat. We were both wrong. Now, that misunderstanding is still a focal point in our relationship as it turns out he’s a staunch conservative and I’m a democratic socialist.

When some people hear the term “science fiction,” they immediately think of the stereotypical Star Trek geek with thick glasses and a nasally voice. The thing is, science fiction can be so much more. It can be an important window into what we want or don’t want in our futures.

With the USC Student Government election season behind us, we tend to forget a lot of the details from those two weeks. Students have mastered the art of avoiding eye contact with eager campaign staffers, despite supporters being instructed to pass out flyers to every student that walked past.

University and classroom policies are among my favorite things to analyze. They seem to be misguided and exacerbate situations they aim to fix. As a result, taking the rules of college life and applying them to the rest of the world yield some interesting results.

Everyone has their own definition of success. Some people think it’s a financial goal, others think it’s eternal happiness. Ultimately, it is the output of our hopes and goals. However, a lot of people don’t think like this. People get stuck on what is preventing them from achieving success instead of growing from it.

It's hard to resist the unexplainable and uncontrollable urge to take a BuzzFeed quiz to find out what kind of sandwich you are. In fact, in the middle of researching for this article I found out that I am, without a doubt, a hamburger with lettuce for buns.

Often when I am scrolling through YouTube trying to find a way to procrastinate on my homework, I stumble across video titles like, “You Won’t Believe How Much THIS Costs!” or “10 Things Everyone Should Know About Online Shopping (SHOCKING!).” And while these titles are tempting to click on, I know, deep down, they aren’t true. YouTube videos will also often have pictures in the thumbnail that have celebrities or other images that aren’t even discussed in the video.

Despite my disagreement with his politics, I genuinely respect Bernie Sanders. The man is a true maverick, and he delivered a much-needed challenge to the Clinton democratic orthodoxy in 2016.
