The University of South Carolina football program, led by head coach Will Muschamp, decided to cancel all football operations for Monday, Aug. 31 to focus its efforts on an on-campus demonstration for racial justice. The women's soccer program and the football team protested on Greene Street all wearing "'matter' is the minimum" shirts, inspired by redshirt junior quarterback Jay Urich’s sign from the football team’s first march outside the governor’s mansion in early June.

Conference USA (C-USA) has officially announced that all of the conference's fall team sports, except football, have been postponed until the spring. By postponing the seasons, the athletes maintain eligibility for whatever the NCAA tournament will be in spring 2021.
