Berkeley County authorities are investigating a shooting that resulted in a man driving himself to the hospital with a bullet wound in his head. A Greenville County teen fell from a waterfall at Jones Gap State Park. Garners Ferry Road was shut down for a time on Wednesday due to a gas line break.

The SC Dept. of Revenue accused Richland County of sales tax fraud. Richland County legislators are calling for the suspension of the recreation commissioner because of corruption investigations. Decided by a circuit court judge, there will be no change in trial date for the officer accused of killing Walter Scott.

A hostage situation in Jasper County left a police officer wounded and the suspect dead. Longtime athletics director at the College of Charleston, Joe Hull, announced that he will retire at the end of the year. South Carolina prosecutor leading the case against Dylann Roof claims that the date set for Roof's federal trial will cause conflict with the date of his state trial.

Columbia's Father's Day Cookout with Mayor Benjamin brought families community members to Hyatt Park for food and fun. In Orangeburg County, two men were arrested and charged with attempted murder and possession of a stolen handgun. The two are also accused of leading police on a car chase. Mother Emanuel AME Church in Charleston led a March for Unity and Thanksgiving Sunday to honor the victims of last year's shooting, popularizing #HateWontWin on social media.

Anti-gun violence advocates rallied outside the Statehouse on Saturday, mourning victims of Charleston and Orlando shootings. A woman is charged with unlawful conduct toward a child after being accused of leaving her two small children in a running car. Librarian Arik Bjorn clinched a Democratic nomination for South Carolina's 2nd congressional district.


In Brief: 6/18/16

A shooting on Wildwood Avenue that left one injured is being investigated by Columbia police. In Irmo, a tree fell on a house, injuring a 17-year-old boy. Another 17-year-old boy has been charged with six counts of attempted murder, according to the Richland County Sheriff's Department, after he was involved in a pool party shooting.


New homecoming events, celebrations announced

Homecoming festivities for fall of 2016 have been announced by the Homecoming Executive Commission. Homecoming week will consist of several new festivities to create a fun and inclusive celebration for the Carolina community.
