Everyone knows the famous Gamecock’s — Darius Rucker, Darla Moore or Lindsey Graham. But a new generation of fame is increasingly common today with online creator culture — and the Gamecocks are no strangers to the internet limelight. Meet Hyperion: USC's supercomputer that performs cutting-edge research

Locked amongst electronics and cables in Wheat Street is a supercomputer that whirs away computing answers to the University’s biggest questions. The computer, named Hyperion, is near six tons of high performance power. For the University, it is both a commodity and a necessity for research.

Darius Rucker will return for the second student concert since 2017, with this concert planned to be even larger. Rucker is a lifelong Gamecock fan, and after the women's basketball team's national championship win, he wanted to support the university the way he knows best — with his musical performances.

'Out of sight, out of mind': Columbia citizens feel many pretend homeless population is less of a problem

Homelessness in Columbia has only gotten more drastic in the past few years. Many people downtown and those familiar with the issue throughout Columbia agree that there is a large, disadvantaged homeless population, but that the best way to help them is complicated.

Vincent Sheheen’s life changed in 2020 after he lost re-election to his SC senate seat. At the end of a 20-year career in SC politics, Sheheen has since continued what many call a generational and lifelong commitment to public service by exploring several passion projects, like starting a podcast, restoring buildings and teaching at USC.

The 40th Annual St. Pat's in Five Points Parade took place this past Saturday, March 19, 2022. The festival included a variety of performances, food, and parade spectacles from colorful floats to marching band fanfare.

The annual St. Pat’s in Five Points event returned for the first time after two years this weekend to celebrate its 40-year anniversary, bringing with it one of the largest events in Columbia and South Carolina. The March event had a large turnout, with many enjoying the greatly missed musical festival.
